Tamara Bernazky- Alm

Tamara Bernazky-Alm, BSS, BSN, RN, RYT-500, and Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Master

Tamara has cultivated a multifaceted career path deeply rooted in holistic care and yoga practice.
Her journey began after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from Old Dominion University in 2007. The same year, she took her first yoga class and immediately felt the power of embodiment. Since this introduction to Raja Yoga, it has become the cornerstone of
her personal and professional life.
In 2009, Tamara completed her 200 RYT certification at Joyful Yoga in Bonita Springs, FL. She found profound healing through yoga and ayurveda during this transformative training. A passion for an integrative approach to healing was born after completion of nursing school in 2012. A commitment to incorporating holistic healing evolved as she began practicing Reiki in
2015, practicing at the bedside and attaining Reiki Master certification in 2022. As a 300 RYT graduate from Asheville Yoga Center, she continued to fine tune her practice and teachings through additional certifications in yin yoga, yoga nidra and restorative yoga.
Solidifying her foundation in both Western medical practices and Eastern holistic therapies, she’s worked as a nurse in Lifestyle Medicine through the Dean Ornish Program and currently serves as a Complementary Integrative Health nurse at the Veterans Health Administration. She integrates yoga, meditation, Reiki, and other holistic modalities into patient care, emphasizing wellness and healing in acute care, addiction recovery, hospice, and long-term care settings.
Tamara’s classes and private sessions aim to foster self-awareness, deepen student’s connection to yoga philosophy, and integrate mind-body practices for holistic well-being. Although Tamara enjoys sharing anything nerdy including neuroscience, she lovingly encourages students to embody their personal yoga practice beyond the intellect and asana. She hopes to create an experience that supports others to live more consciously and with equanimity and resilience.
